Stila Eyeshadow Quad and Brushes at Costco

So my family and I trekked to Costco yesterday to stock up on Cetaphil cream (not lotion, but the cream in tubs). It's almost winter and Cetaphil cream is the only product that puts winter itchies at bay for my DH and DS. I knew there were some high-end cosmetics that sometimes land on the shelves of Costco, but I didn't know that they carry Stila. Stila is more expensive than MAC, I guess probably because the shadows are just humongous. I have had just one Stila eyeshadow (Jezebel), and the pigmentation was super rich and texture is amazing. So when I stumbled on this set of eyeshadow quad (lovely, wearable colors), mascara, and, take note, two full-size eyeshadow brushes (Stila brushes 5 and 9), all for a grand total of $18.75 or thereabouts, I just HAD to have it. It didn't disappoint. The eyeshadow brushes alone are worth it.

Can you say beautiful?? #9 is similar to MAC 224, although the hairs are more akin to Sonia Kashuk's blender brush. I like that the hairs are a little stiff (although not overly so), just like the 224 and SK blender, because too flimsy ones make application more difficult, at least for me. #5 is Stila's version of MAC's 227. It's a lovely, big and fluffy brush that works best as an all-over-the-lid shadow applicator or to highlight the browbone. The hairs are super soft. In short, amazing (especially for the price!).

These are huge shadows! As you can see, the colors are very soft and wearable.

These were swatched without a base. I love the pretty shimmer and the smooth application of the product on the skin.

The mascara - haven't tried it but I'm happy I have this because I'm running low on mascara.

So what are you waiting for? Go check out your neighborhood Costco for great finds on high-end cosmetics. Who knows, you can even find other better deals. I just read that some people have found sets of six Stila split-pan shadows for the price of only $16 something. Wow!

Hello! I was lucky enough to pick up the 6 eyeshadow duos at costco - I did a comparison to what was listed at the stila website, and here are the sets included: kajiki, mara samba, lily, fandango, vieux carre and one more set that I cant match - one side is a goldish/brown and the other is a shimmery, peachy color. There is also a lipgloss/lip glaze stick set - in sweet, enticing and berry - for about 7 bucks! It looks like my costco (in so cal) gets these sets first, because the set that you blogged about was in my costco many months ago. I also picked up a 4 piece smashbox eyeshadow trio about a month ago. Anyway! Thought I'd pass that along. I enjoy reading your blog :)

Rasilla and Nikki- I hope it does land on your shores. These sets are amazing, and the price even more. :)

anonymous- well I am just glad they were there at exactly the right time I saw them, because if they were out months before, I wouldn't have been able to snag them as I was oblivious that there were actually high-end cosmetics in Costco, and I am not a regular Costco shopper. Thanks for the heads-up, now I can stalk Costco and wait for those split pans! :)
