Lumiere and Sally Hauls, and An Aromaleigh Eye Look

I have not posted this yet, but here is my mini-haul from Lumiere before the site closed down temporarily. I bought the following: silk blushes in Au Naturale, Cherry Blossom and Mimosa (I loved the wide jars with see-through lids; so chic!), multi-purpose minerals in Hazelnut, Hypnotic and Chameleon (I use them as eyeshadows), and the lovely Heiress eye glitz. I love blushes and shadows from Lumiere because they are very pigmented and the blushes go on smooth and not splotchy like some. However, I am glad I bought all the full-sized silk blushes and shadows I had wanted from Lumiere, because I am honestly disappointed with the new vial containers that they have now. I have MAC pigment vials so I have personal experience with working with vials while applying my makeup. Vials are tall and thin as opposed to jars that are short and wide, so vials tip more easily than jars especially when you are in a hurry, hence spillage is more likely. I also hope that they are not made of glass because I am clumsy and might drop and break them.

Another issue for me: the lids of the vials are too small to use if I want to foil my minerals using a mixing medium. I know because I also have MAC vials. It's just inconvenient to use another dish for it. Sure, I can use paint palettes for mixing if I have samples in baggies, but for full sizes, I don't want the hassle of using another surface to add my mixing medium to the minerals. I know some people love these vials, but having worked with my MAC pigments in vials, I really just prefer jars. Maybe it's just me, but that's just my two cents. Don't get me wrong: I absolutely LOVE Lumiere products; it has top-notch quality minerals that are very pigmented and buttery-smooth, but I am just not a fan of the vials.

I also got this haul from Sally Beauty Supply (they have an online store but I got this at the brick-and-mortar near my office). This week, all China Glaze polishes are buy two, get one free at Sally's. You also get added discounts when you have their membership card. I love my haul. Ruby Pumps is a beautiful sparkly, festive red that is part of their Sleigh Ride holiday trio set; VII is a gorgeous mauvey purple, and 5th Avenue is a cream pinkish mauve that would look pretty on both the tips and toes. I also bought a huge bottle of non-acetone polish remover and nail corrector pen to easily clean polish off the sides of the nails while doing my manicure.

Close-up; will be doing swatches soon. Correction: It's Buy TWO, Get One Free.

Lastly, here's an EOTD attempt using Aromaleigh shadows. I used Satin Laces (Gothic Lolita collection) foiled on lid, Ambre and Solange (Bete Noire collection) on middle of lid and outer V, and Rock Bottom (Rocks! Sonic) dry on crease.

i have a question that i hope you can address in your next blog entry :)... how long do nail polishes last in the bottle before they start drying out (such as it becomes thicker and gooey)? does it change from brand to brand - and is it true that good brands like china glaze or OPI last longer? thanks in advance! :)
