So glad that MAC has come up with another lipstick formula to join the ranks of Matte, Satin, Amplified Cream, Lustre, Glaze, and Frost (did I forget anything?). Cremesheen is a welcome addition to the family. To me, it is somewhat between Lustre and Amplified Cream in texture, but it has a lot better color pay-off and staying power than Lustre. Amplified Cream is thicker in consistency, in my opinion, but Cremesheen is more comfortable on the lips (not "hot and sticky" on the puckers). I have more Lustre formulas than any other MAC lipstick formula, and now I wish all of them had been Cremesheens, if only for the better color pay-off. I also love how they glide like butter on the lips, but it is neither plain shimmer nor sticky sheen.
In this photo, I compared the Cremesheen texture and color to that of Amplified Cream. Notice that both have the creamy, luscious finish.
Cremesheen in Hang-Up
As described by MAC, Cremesheen saturates lips with immediate color. It gives pigmented shine but it doesn't dry out the lips. If you like reds or are planning to wear red or plum for the holidays, I highly recommend Brave Red and Hang-Up. These colors would be beautiful for the holidays and these would automatically make your lips the stars of the night. For everyday wear, I like Creme D'Nude, Modesty, Hot Gossip, Fanfare. Arrrgh, I can't choose, all of them are just lovely. I can't wait to wear Speak Louder because the poppy pink is just an amazing pop of color on the lips.
If you have been a little disappointed with MAC Lustre and Glaze formulas for lacking the color pay-off you've been craving, well MAC has heeded your calls for a creamier, pigmented formula. You will be amazed at how good these new lipsticks bring out the color that you actually see on the tube. I can't wait for MAC to come up with more colors with this formula.
