Meow Mineral Blush Swatches and MAC Starflash Shadows
Monday, August 11, 2008
A couple or so weeks ago, Meow had its biggest sale this year, a whopping 25% off its mineral makeup prices. I was so elated and got a little "click-happy", placing as many blush samples in my online shopping cart. I finally received my samples last Saturday (pretty quick turn-around time, I must say). The blushes are gorgeous and the samples pretty generous, 1/4 teaspoon which is enough for several uses, as I only use so little per application. Here are some swatches of just a few of the samples. These are not even a third of my blush frenzy haul (I was so sleepy while swatching and I was too lazy to wash the colors off my arm to try out the rest). These were swatched with a rather heavy hand using a q-tip, so take note, this might not be the exact shade/texture you will see on your cheeks when you apply it with a blush brush or fibre optic/duo-fibre brush.
The Claw Your Way To The Top blush was splotchy because I rubbed it a little too hard on my skin. Its true shade is actually the color you see on the fringe/edge of the swatch.
I loveeee the names! I can't wait to use these directly on my cheeks. So far I'm really loving Claw Your Way To The Top; it's the only one I've tried so far.
Here is also a photo of all my MAC Starflash eyeshadows. I love each one of them, the smoothness of the application is just unbelievable. They glide like butter on the skin with nary a drag, and the pigmentation is just as incredible. A little more effort should be used on Lotusland, though, because it is sheerer compared to the other Starflash shadows. I would use paint pots underneath Lotusland to give it a pop of color. Stupid me, though, because when I was tinkering with these, I was a little befuddled as to why "Starflash" was printed on the bottom of each pot. I thought that Starflash was just the name of the collection, which shouldn't be on the label anyway. I didn't realize that Starflash is actually the FINISH of the shadow. DUH! I am glad MAC added the Starflash finish to join Veluxe Pearl, Frost, Lustre, Matte, Matte2, Satin (did I miss any?). In my opinion, Starflash is one of the best finishes MAC has actually come up with. I hope MAC churns out more colors with this amazing finish!
