Product Review: Dermelect Line Correction Eye Gel and Rapid Repair Facial Moisturizer
Tuesday, July 15, 2008
I've been trying out these two products from Dermelect Cosmeceuticals for almost a month now, but I've only blogged about it now because I gave the products an opportunity to work. All in all, I love the soothing botanicals in the eye gel, as well as soft and supple effect of the moisturizer on my skin. I especially love the reasonable prices.
LINE CORRECTION EYE GEL
TARGET: Fine lines, puffiness, tired, dehydrated skin
BEAUTY BENEFITS:
· Reduces puffiness, minimizes dark circles.
· Moisturizes and tones the eyelids.
· Soothes and refreshes.
· Facilitates smooth make-up application.
DESCRIPTION:
The unique properties of Hyaluronic acid allows it to retain 1000 times its weight in water, creating a unique hydrating eye cream in a weightless formulation. Line Correction Eye Gel combats dehydration by creating an even balance of moisture while working synergistically to promote the skin's appearance of increased smoothness, softening, and decreased wrinkles. In an instant, skin is left comfortable and looking youthful.
TO USE:
Apply daily to and around the eye area. Suitable for all skin types.
INGREDIENTS:
Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Echinacea, Vitamin A, Vitamin E
MY TAKE:
My eyes are the perfect candidates for this product as I always have puffiness around the eye area, mostly due to lack of sleep. What I love about this product is that I place it in the fridge, and when I apply it, oh my gosh, the feeling is glorious! The gel instantly soothes my tired eyes, and puffiness is decreased. It's like my eyes' Starbucks Frapuccino (make that java chip without whipped cream, please). It cools them down and perks them up, jolts the eyes awake, brightening the peepers as a result. I don't see any difference on my fine lines, though, but in the puffiness area, it did help. I really am liking this product, especially the feel-good, soothing cool effect.
RAPID REPAIR FACIAL MOISTURIZER
TARGET: Sensitivity, redness, stressed skin
BEAUTY BENEFITS:
· Super-moisturizing, skin conditioning creates the appearance of soft, supple, velvety textured skin.
· Makes the skin appear plumper and smoother with dehydration lines less visible.
· Found to reduce transepidermal water loss, thereby improving the appearance of rough, dry and damaged skin.
· Oil-Free, absorbs quickly- skin looks fresh, minimizes shine and makeup wears longer.

Tones down roughness and richly softens skin imparting a gorgeous, healthy looking glow. Combats daily irritation caused by environmental pollutants and exposure to the sun. Leaves no stickiness or oily residue and works all day even under makeup.
TO USE:
Apply a thin a thin layer to face and throat after cleansing in the morning and evenings. Perfect even for the most sensitive skin.
INGREDIENTS:
Chamomile, Azulene, Collagen
MY TAKE:
I like that it comes in a fairly big container (2 oz) for $38. Not bad. I also like the fresh clean scent that doesn't interfere with my sensitive olfactory nerves. I really don't like cloying scents, especially in my beauty and body products. I used to love perfumes, I still wear them, but after I gave birth, something in my chemistry has changed; I'm not much into them anymore. Upon application of the product, my skin felt soft, supple, but not greasy, which is good because I already have combination skin to begin with. I honestly can't see any difference in my skin after using it for 3 weeks. I must also say that I didn't like the fact that this has no SPF, and that a separate product is needed to protect your skin against harmful rays of the sun. That said, it is a good moisturizer - it effectively gives my skin the moisture it needs, and at the same time didn't break me out.
All in all, I like the eye gel better than the moisturizer. It's not that the latter isn't good, it actually is, especially for the price, but I really love the soothing effect of the eye gel and I really saw the difference in my eyes. I have several moisturizers so I was probably desensitized to the effects of the Rapid Repair Moisturizer, but as I said, it's not bad at all.
Dermelect also has an entire range of anti-aging products, so you might also want to check them out.

nice!! would you recommend the eye gel for people with dry eyelids?
HAHA Nice! I got the same ones in the mail from Brandy? Don't remember her name but I got the eye gel and the Face Crystals Wash Scrub...im still testing them but so far so good!
alien man- good question. I think if you have REALLY dry skin, it wouldn't hurt to apply an emollient cream on top of the gel if you really want added moisture. The gel works great on me, but I have combination skin, so I don't know if it would work on dry skin.
Vanessa- wow! Wanna read your thoughts on the gel and the scrub!
Love it!! I bet Dermelect omitted an SPF ingredient in their Rapid Repair Facial Moisturizer because they recommend you use the product in the morning and at night. Obviously, as part of your nighttime regime, an SPF is unnecessary. If you want protection during the day to layer over or under your moisturizer, I saw on their site that they sell a product called “SPF-20 Facial Armour.”
FYI... The Rapid Repair moisturizer is recommended in the morning and evening. The SPF 20 Facial Armour is the all day moisturizer. Also, I noticed that both products do not contain any fragrance. The scent that you mentioned is from the extracts and oils contained in the products- not artificial fragrance. Both products are simply amazing and I highly recommend them!
anonymous- thank you for the comment. I know it is used for both day and night. It IS a good product, I just prefer moisturizers used during the day to contain spf, even if it is a day and night moisturizer. As I said, the scent is not cloying at all. Whether or not the scent came from oils or whatever is irrelevant for me because it didn't bother me at all.
