Aromaleigh's New Color Infusion Botanical Lipsticks

I just received some of Aromaleigh's new Color Infusion Botanical Lipsticks, together with some Pure Hue and other samples from this company. First of all, let me say that I was a huge fan of Aromaleigh's old lipstick housed in the traditional bullet tubes. I personally thought that a change in container from the original bullet to a chapstick-like tube wasn't such a big deal, as long as the product and the amount remained the same. I just couldn't help but be disappointed when I received my loot.

First of all, the pigmentation and creaminess of the old formula rivaled that of top brands, and in fact, I preferred Aromaleigh's creamy, opaque lipstick to some of MAC's lustre lipsticks. I loved how creamy yet pigmented the old lipstick was. I liked it paired with Aromaleigh's lipglosses, and the results were just pigmented, luscious, glossy lips. When I got the new Color Infusion Botanical lipsticks, however, I didn't know that they would be in the same tubes Silk Naturals uses for their lipsticks and lipglosses, and to think that Silk Naturals have great, pigmented lipsticks and they are a whopping $3 less than those of Aromaleigh's. It's obvious that the amount of product in the new tubes is considerably less than that of the original lipstick tube.

When I swatched the new Aromaleigh botanical lipsticks, I just knew that the formula is way different from the old lipsticks in bullet casings. This has an almost lip balm texture to it, so much so that the awesome pigmentation that I loved in the old lipsticks is gone.

One look and you'll see how much more pigmented the old lipsticks were. Now THOSE are what I call real lipsticks. The new Color Infusion Botanical ones are like a hybrid of lipgloss and lipstick, with none of the color vibrancy and creaminess of the old formula. I feel that the new ones are a diluted version of the old.

I have to give the company some credit though because they actually created a vegan-friendly lip product for those scared of any harsh ingredients from other commercial manufacturers. They still retained the yummy chocolate citrus flavor in their lipsticks which I love. Here is their explanation as to why the old lipstick has been discontinued:

Our lipsticks are packaged in slimline natural balm tubes with a black band label. These tubes give you maximum control over application, while giving maximum preservation to your natural lip products. Natural lip products formed into lipstick "bullets" will frequently harden quickly and oxidize, or have a very short life span. This is not the case when natural lipsticks are poured into tubes and protected from the elements! Why are we no longer creating our lipsticks in the traditional lipstick tube and "bullet"? Because our previous lipstick line was poured out-of-house, by a formulator who specialized in pouring lipsticks with special molds and chilling tables. This also resulted in constant out of stock products and long wait times as we dealt with minimum orders, which you all unfortunately had to deal with... we are formulating our new lipstick line in-house, in order to eradicate all of the previous issues... and because of this, we are unable to provide the traditional lipstick tube.

Despite the explanation, I tremendously miss the old formula of the lipstick, the rich, creamy texture, and the awesome pigmentation. I am a little sad that I am not going to enjoy the lipsticks I've grown to love from Aromaleigh (sigh).

To cheer me up, though, I will just resign myself to continue enjoying Aromaleigh's glosses, which are now in doe-foot applicator tubes instead of the horrendous click-pens! Yay! At least there's an improvement on this one.
