The She Space Velvets

I received my She Space Velvets order a couple of days ago, and indeed, they are just the perfect semi-matte colors for those who dislike too much shimmer in their shadows. They remind me so much of Taylormade's more matte-ish pigments, both in texture and color pay-off. I just didn't like the way these pigments darkened when foiled, but they lightened considerably once dried. In fact, I can actually use these pigments dry (unlike the shimmery ones that I need to foil to achieve maximum color pay-off), but it is important that a really tacky base is used, like MAC shadesticks or cream paint pots, like Soft Ochre or Painterly.

Swatches applied wet

My favorite of the lot is Warm & Fuzzy, and it really looks sophisticated on the lids. It doesn't look cakey, crepey or any other adjective associated with the word "matte", and for that I'm glad. I hope She Space can offer lighter-colored velvets, which can be used as great wash color. I feel there are more darks than lights in that collection, so I'm looking forward to more Velvets from Heather. Her pigments are so addicting, I know a lot of mineral makeup addicts are ordering loads from her! Her colors are really breathtaking and her color collection is unbelievably massive; browsing her site is like being a kid in a candy store.

Here is a look featuring Warm & Fuzzy and my favorite Lumiere eyeshadow, Peppermint Patty. I love how chameleon-like this color is. It changes color when used as a liner or as a wash. It can also look pretty sheer and neutral or very dark, depending on your application. Mysterious is likewise a beautiful, multi-faceted color, and I love how Lumiere shadows don't need to be foiled.

Lastly, I'm wearing Cory blush in Mocha. I love all her blushes! I used a couple of "crumbs" of this blush, didn't even put a dent on my tiny sample baggie, and yet the color pay-off was a-m-a-z-i-n-g; I had to buff my cheeks with my kabuki brush to blend in the color because the blush was very pigmented, and to think I only used so little. What's better, it lasted the WHOLE day on my cheeks. I give Cory blushes a perfect 10 for outstanding pigment, maximum color pay-off and excellent staying power.

I love those neutral colors! And you look beautiful in your fotd! You had soo much eyeshadows, how do you decide what to put on in the morning. I don't even have half as much and deciding what colors to put on for the day drives me nuts!

Chris: thank you! I basically just decide if I want to use minerals or MAC shadows for my eye look and I just go from there. It's fun choosing colors, although yes it can be tedious at times especially when you're in a rush. :)
