Here's installment #2 of the Best Of series. This month, Shades Of U turned one. I can't believe I've been makeup blogging for a year! I wouldn't have reached this milestone if it weren't for you fabulous people out there who log on to read my sometimes incoherent ramblings. LOL! Anyways, here are some of what I deem my best entries.
My cousin and good friend Ruby stayed with us early last year for a few days, and I took the opportunity to introduce her to mineral makeup by giving her a makeover. She loved how easy it was to apply, how light it felt on the skin but heavy-duty enough to conceal blemishes. I ended up giving her a full pot of Lauress foundation that I hope she's using up to this day.
I also met Claudine for the first time, an online friend, and our friendship was nurtured by our mutual love for minerals. She is now a distributor of mineral makeup in Manila, and I've seen the growth of the mineral makeup industry in the Philippines, partly because of her.
I also did a review on my MAC brushes. Three more 222 brushes later, I think I should update this entry now to include the uber-fabulous (and astronomically-priced) 138 contour/rosebud brush, and to pledge my undying love for the 222.
Of course, how can I forget my MAC mineralized skinfinishes? After a year of collecting, I am still not over these beautiful orbs of gorgeously baked minerals. I let go of some of my back-up MSFs but I still want to keep one of each just for the heck of it.
My love-love relationship with MAC pigments has grown tremendously after this post. I now have over 20 full-size pigments, and I have NO idea how I am going to finish everything in this lifetime. I know I said in the entry that I wouldn't get full-size pigments, but there's something about getting one that gives immense satisfaction (at least for me). I share them with friends and family, and samples of pigments can be great swap eveners as well.
There you have it. Watch out for more The Best Of series, but for now just click the links and look back at the Shades Of U year that was.

Chris- you're very welcome! You won't be disappointed with the pigments if you want really pigmented colors (duh, that's why they're called pigments! =D).
Happy Birthday/Anniversary Shades of U! Love reading your blog and I love how you put together different looks. Gorgeous!
