Last December, another mineral makeup brand opened its doors to the public. If Meow had everything centered on the feline animal, Dreamworld's theme is all about the creations of the fertile imagination, from goddesses to myths to mystical treasures, but the foundation shades are named after goddesses of the ancient times. Cool, huh? I happened to stumble upon its fan forum while browsing different mineral makeup boards. I was impressed with the different raves I'd read, and I was intrigued with the claims that it has great coverage yet looks natural at the same time. I asked Ellie, the owner, for shades that she thought would suit me. She recommended a few, and with those names as a guide, I immediately bought samples of the following shades: Themis, Minerva, Hebe, Theia, Ashan, Tethys, and Brighid. I just got my samples yesterday and I was very impressed with how generous the samples were: the sample jars were filled to the brim with minerals, and considering that I got the heavy coverage formula, Luna, a little truly goes a long way.
My Dreamworld sample haul
I tried to make some swatches on my arm but because I got shades with heavy yellow undertones, the swatches just disappeared into my skin. I thus did swatches on a baby wipe, taking inspiration from Lili's nifty idea. I sort of blended the foundation on the moist wipe so we can really see the actual color when it is used wet. Note however that I used a generous amount of the samples for maximum color pay-off, so these swatches may actually come out darker than its actual appearance on skin.
I tried Themis today and used the wet application method, and I was floored with how beautiful the finish and coverage was, and yet it didn't look thick or caked on. I love that the luna formula is indeed heavy coverage (as you can see in the swatches, they look very creamy instead of powdery), but it feels light on the skin and the finish looked really natural. I have found another favorite in Dreamworld! I am not too sure about the color, though, I think it's a little bit too yellow? I am aiming for this look from Lauress (used Creamy Yellow and Delicate Yellow in the original formula):
This is my look using DreamWorld in Themis:
I think it's more yellow (or maybe darker?) that what I'd like, or maybe it's just the flash or the lighting? I don't know, but I will try all my samples until I find an exact match. What's better, I just e-mailed Ellie tonight letting her know that I love my samples, and she told me that she will work with me until I find my perfect shade. Wow, how's that for amazing CS? I also want to try her medium-coverage foundation (Sands formula), but that's going to be an altogether different Dreamworld series. In the meantime, I will be posting looks using my other Dreamworld shades which can also help me decipher which one looks best on my skintone.
By the way, I was also wearing MAC's N Collection lippie in 4N (I love that color!) and lipglass in 1N, and most of the N Collection shadows (that's Nanogold on my browbone). I'll post a close-up eye look using the shadows.
Do check out Ellie's new company; I am thrilled to discover new small mineral makeup companies that offer great products and personalized service like hers.

I heard about this company through another blogger - that's great about the CS though! Hope you're able to find a good match - as curious as I am to try out their foundation, I still have too many samples sitting in my dresser to try, haha.
Just stumbled across your blog, so I thought I'd stop by and say hi. :)
Thanks for the swatches! I've been meaning to try out Dreamworld since I heard about it from someone else, but I was pretty overwhelmed by the site. The coverage looks really good on you, and I think I'll definitely have to give it a try.
You look beautiful and your right about the coverage; it looks so light. I'm looking forward to try this myself soon. Thanks for the FOTD.
mayaari- yeah Dreamworld's CS is pretty good, I like how she really personalizes her service to suit her clients. That's why I love small women-owned companies, the CS is really very personalized. That's what I like about MMU, you can never have too many samples!
girl meets makeup- thanks :). I really do like the coverage, reminds me of Monave but the texture is totally different.
naomi-alicia - aww thanks! I am really breaking out right now (the worst I've had in YEARS), so the coverage is really perfect for me, yet it doesn't look caked on.
Your complexion looks great! I am always on the look out for a new mineral foundation to try. I have golden brown skin with yellow undertones and it is so difficult to find something that matches. I usually have to purchase 2 shades to get a close enough match. Thanks so much for sharing, I will have to try this brand out. ;)
mudiva- Thanks. :) You can probably find a match with this company because she has a lot of foundations with yellow undertones. She mentioned on her site that she has a lot more yellow-toned foundations than pink ones, so she's adding pinks to the bunch.
Thanks, I will have to try them out. I love your blog, you are a wealth of info and so I shared on my site about your blog, as well as my beauty forum. You are awesome!
wow wow wow...
you look perfect...
i'm gonna try some hihi ^^
