Tutorial for a Quick Neutral Eye Look

I made my first full-face makeup tutorial a little over a year ago. Since then, I have been receiving several requests for a follow-up tutorial. I finally created another one for a quick, painless neutral eye look. I made this as uncomplicated as possible, and thus can be done even by beginners. This is only an eyeshadow tutorial:



Tools/products needed (all MAC unless otherwise stated):

Beige-ing shadestick
Cloudbound eyeshadow from Pandamonium quad
Coco pigment
Subtle pigment
water-based mixing medium
Tete-A-Tint eyeshadow
Twinks eyeshadow
Graphic Brown fluidline
shader brushes (I used ones by Prestige, Sonia Kashuk, and Studio Tools - for the MAC equivalent, I suggest the 239, 217 or 213)
224 brush
eyeliner brush (I used an art brush, Loew Cornell)
Shu Uemura lash curler


Apply Beige-ing shadestick on the lid, then blend with forefinger or middle finger - this will create a budge-proof base for the eye products.


Place a drop of the mixing medium on the back of your hand. Using a shader brush, pick up a small amount of Coco pigment and mix it with the mixing medium until you create a thin paste. Apply on lid.


Pick up a small amount of Subtle pigment. It is essentially very similar to Coco, albeit a tad darker. Place it on the middle of the lid, then sort of blend it toward the outer corner of the eye. This will create a progression of shades.


Here, I applied Subtle from the middle to outer lid, and you can see the color gets a wee bit darker from the middle of the lid going outwards.


Bring your brush upward and outward, going toward the crease.


Pick up a small amount of Tete-A-Tint shadow.


Apply Tete-A-Tint on the crease going upwards to create a transition from the lid color to the highlight color.


Using your 224, pick up a small amount of Twinks.


Using the flowering tip of the 224, gently deposit the product on your crease using short, one-direction sweeps.


Using another 224 or blending brush, blend from the inner to the outer lid to blend the colors together, using circular motions or one-direction sweeps (I don't recommend the windshield wiper motion because it tends to muddy up the colors).


It should look like this so far.


With my Loew Cornell American Painter brush, I pick up some Graphic Brown fluidline and apply on my upper lashline. I try not to make a very thick line because it makes my eyes look harsh.


It should thus look like this.


Lastly, pick up some Cloudbound eyeshadow from the Pandamonium quad (Balloonacy collection) and apply from the inner corner going upward to the browbone. Blend carefully. Then curl lashes and apply mascara.
