My RAOK (Random Act of Kindness) Package from a Friend

I had this really good friend in freshman year of college that I lost touch with through the years. We were classmates in English literature class and I remember a lot of fun times together. We lost track of each other and I was so surprised that our paths actually crossed again after so many years. It was so uncanny that we had to bump into one another on a makeup board. She's now a part-time makeup artist in New York and is the ultimate makeup brand snob. She only uses Cle de Peau, Chanel and other high-end brands, but I actually got her to try MAC, and now, she's head-over-heels in love with the mineralize skinfinishes and MAC's other products like the new 3D Glass lipglosses and the Painterly paint pots. I was so ecstatic when I got a package from her, out of the goodness of her heart, filled to the brim with such amazing makeup. I also got a little note from her with the package, and the minute I saw her handwriting, it brought back SO many memories of those enchanted days when we were still so young and innocent, without a care in the world (and I knew her handwriting so well because we used to pass notes to each other in class right under the professor's nose).

My friend's RAOK package to me (clockwise from top left): Shu Uemura makeup color palette in Rouge Dessert/Strawberry Souffle, MAC paint pot in Artifact, MAC Northern Light MSF (a backup! Yay!), MAC mineralized eyeshadow in Lovestone, Stila eyeshadow in Jezebel, Shu Uemura M Wine 23 blush, Shu Uemura P Pink 33E blush

just for the heck of it (and just because it's beautiful), here's a close up of the MSF my friend sent me

Lovestone; it's an eyeshadow but I am SO using this as a blush!

Artifact and Stila eyeshadow in Jezebel

I just want to say that I was bowled over by this itty bitty Stila shadow I got in the package. I have never tried a single Stila shadow in my life even though I had a Stila palette in the past - I gave it away because I couldn't/wouldn't use it because I felt that nothing can be as good as my MAC shadows. Well, this particular shadow does rival MAC in terms of amazing texture and rich pigmentation. I was wowed by how easily it glided on my skin, and texture was very smooth and never gritty, and it blended on my lids like a dream. It was SO beautiful, I couldn't stop looking at my lids. Now I know why a lot of people are Stila addicts, and couldn't get enough of their shadows (even I know about the phenomenal Stila Kitten eyeshadow). I have tried and tested MAC neutrals and I am craving for more, so I might just trek to Sephora one of these days to try out these babies.

Artifact paint pot on skin - it looks amazing!

I finally got my glorious MAC Rushmetal pressed pigments in the mail! I placed them in my brand-new E.L.F. quads

Hey Aileen! Looove your blog!

I am glad you are enjoying the cosmetics I sent you. As for that particular Stila eyeshadow JEZEBEL (mermaid na mermaid din, just like me!!!), it was used by one of the featured makeup artist in one of the workshops. The MUA used it WET and just swiped it across the model's entire eyelid area and it looked fabulous. I have a picture of it somewhere and will send it to you later.

Talk to you soon!
