And I thought I wasn't going to love any other highlighter as much as my beloved MAC mineralize skinfinishes (MSFs). I was dead-wrong as I discovered MAC beauty powders from the MAC Barbie collection just a couple of months ago, and I think I'm liking the beauty powders as much as or better than my MSFs (I hear a collective gasp from the MSF collectors). These beauty powders are less frosty, less glowy than the MSFs but give such a subtle, ethereal sheen to the cheeks. I did an entry on the beauty powder in Pearl Blossom, but a couple of weeks after that post, I obtained Pearl Sunshine which took my breath away as well. What the heck is so special about these tackily-named highlighters, anyway? These two beauty powders are very different in the way they operate, but they are both so gorgeous. I just use Pearl Sunshine by itself. It's very pretty worn alone, because it emits a very nice pearly peach sheen. If used with a blush underneath, it turns muddy on me. Pearl Blossom, on the other hand, is not just a transparent highlighter on me, but emits a very sheer, beautiful pinkish pearly glow. It is best worn over blushes and makes every blush look so ethereal. Every blush underneath Pearl Blossom morphs into a gorgeous glow, and the color depends on the blush, but still delicately pretty. It seems that I am not the only one who notices these amazing highlighters. I posted some entries using Pearl Blossom and Pearl Sunshine, and I mainly talked about the mineral foundation I was using, but many readers on my other site commented instead on the Beauty Powders, paying no attention to the foundation, LOL.
I love these two products so much that I made it a mission to obtain back-ups since these are limited edition products, as usual. I bought a Pearl Sunshine back-up from the MAC site, too bad the Pearl Blossom was already out-of-stock. I was so giddy with excitement this morning when I saw my Pearl Sunshine beauty powder by our front door. Nobody noticed the little package that the UPS guy left yesterday, and the box was still cold from its overnight stay by our front door (good thing no one took it!). I took it to the kitchen, admired it while having my coffee, and as I moved it from the breakfast nook table it fell on the kitchen tiles and broke into pieces. *screams in agony* I was so devastated. Good thing there's still stock at the MAC site so I bought another one. I plan to transfer this to a 30g jar with sifter and use it like I would a regular mineral highlighter in powder form. Talk about klutzes, yep, that's me!
My first Pearl Sunshine - so intact and so beautiful
My poor second Pearl Sunshine I just received this morning - broken but still gorgeous
