MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show: Lipsticks in Strange Journey and Sin Swatches, Review

The MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of my favorite collections from MAC this year.  The visuals are tacky and yet mesmerizing, and the obvious winners in this collection are the lipsticks.  Some people say that this collection reminds them of the MAC Marilyn Monroe lipsticks from two years ago.  I have to agree - but only to a certain extent.  The big difference between the MAC Marilyn Monroe and the MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show lipsticks is that the latter have mostly matte lipsticks - which I do prefer, since matte lipsticks tend o be more pigmented, more long-lasting and apply vibrantly and more evenly compared to non-matte lipsticks.  That said, here are the two lipsticks from the MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show that I have, as well as my swatches and thoughts on these.

I think I have found the best red orange matte lipstick for me: MAC Strange Journey was indeed a rather strange journey to red orange lipstick.  I never liked red orange lipsticks because I felt they were too warm for my skintone.  It turns out that the right red orange lipstick can look amazing, and that lipstick is MAC Strange Journey.

I love how evenly this lipstick applies, and just how vibrant it looks on the lips.

MAC Sin lipstick is described as a deep dark blue red matte lipstick.  I also love how matte and pigmented it is.  This is going to be a great fall/winter lip color.

All in all, I am really loving the lipsticks from the MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show.  I think it's a good move on the part of MAC to make 3 out of the 4 lipsticks from this collection matte.

These lipsticks retain for $17.50 each, although a lot of them are already sold out in many stores and online, you can always call a MAC counter or store from a different location and they can ship the item to you.

What do you think of the lipsticks from this collection?
