OPI Disney Oz the Great and Powerful Collection Swatches, Review

OPI announces the launch of six limited edition nail lacquers and a new Liquid Sand™ shade, inspired by Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful. With an all-star cast that includes James Franco and Michelle Williams, this highly-anticipated film opens in theaters on March 8, 2013.

Here are my thoughts on these seven polishes.

OPI Oz
 OPI Don't Burst My Bubble

OPI Don't Burst My Bubble is a white jelly with a tinge of pink.  I think this is similar to OPI's iconic Bubble Bath, only the latter is a tad pinker.  I normally don't like very sheer polishes, but I am drawn to this shade, maybe because I can see this as a jelly sandwich-er for my glitters (a polish I can put under and over my glitter polishes for a jelly-like effect).

OPI OZ
OPI Which is Witch over OPI Don't Burst My Bubble

OPI Which is Witch  is a holographic glitter with hex, small round and micro bar glitter.  I like that the bar glitter is not your regular size bars because they can look too fuzzy on the nails.  This does look like fairy or good witch Glinda's nails - it looks quite magical.

OPI Oz
OPI Glints of Glinda

OPI Glints of Glinda is a peachy beige jelly that is quite sheer.   It applies well but the shade looks dirty on my nails.  I don't think I will ever wear this alone as it looks muddy and does not flatter my hands at all.

OPI Lights of Emerald City over Glints of Glinda

OPI Lights of Emerald City over China Glaze Igniting Love

OPI Lights of Emerald City is probably my top favorite from this collection.  I love the matte square glitters with iridescent smaller squares.  I don't think there are a lot of square glitters in mainstream brands, just mostly indies have square glitters.  However, I found it a little hard to fish out the squares, as the clear base is too thick and gloopy, and the glitters are not too dense.  It does take some effort, but the end result is beatiful.  Love the square glitters, they really stand out !

OPI I Theodora You

OPI Oz

OPI I Theodora You is a light pink jelly, very similar in formula to Don't Burst My Bubble and Glints of Glinda.  I love the pink shade, so very clean on the nails and feminine.

OPI Oz
OPI When Monkeys Fly! over OPI I Theodora You

OPI Oz

OPI Oz

OPI When Monkeys Fly! is quite disappointing.  I love the concept- huge gold hex in a clear base, but the curling, the curling!

OPI What Wizardry is This?

OPI Oz

OPI Oz

OPI What Wizardry is This? is a Liquid Sand that looks gold and brown.  It looks great when it was still wet, but I did not like how it looked like when it dried, because it dried matte and even a topcoat over it didn't completely take out the matte look.  It doesn't have the huge glitter from the Mariah Carey collection, so I guess this is a rather new type of Liquid Sand finish.  I do love how the shade looks like when it's shiny, but not when matte.

All in all, I am surprisingly liking the jellies in this bunch, with the exception of Glints of Glinda as it looks quite dirty on my skintone.  When Monkeys Fly! disappoints because of the curling glitter.  I especially like I Theodora You, Lights of Emerald City, Which is Witch?, and Don't Burst My Bubble.

Which are your faves?

Great swatches :) The pinks/nudes are very pretty and I really like the Which is Witch top coat.

SoftShades are always welcome in my stash, however I am really loving What Wizardry Is This, because I love brown nail polish.

Hi! Thank you for all the nail swatches! I'm just getting into nail polish and it's SO HELPFUL! Do you prefer the pixi dust from Zoya or the OPI liquid sand. I want to pick one of the textured kinds up but don't know which and trust your opinion! Thank you!
