I have posted my Video Review of the MAC Fashion Sets Collection over the weekend, but in this entry, I have the product photos as well as the skin and lip swatches of the shades that I have.

In essence, MAC got all its iconic and cult favorite shades, created lipstick, lipglass and nail lacquer variants of each shade, and placed them in one collection.  The MAC Fashion Sets collection features sixteen shades that are favorites of MAC fans all over the world.  However, even though the sixteen shades can be bought online (except for those that have sold out), only seven shades are specifically slated for the North American region.  I got four of those seven shades, and for this entry, I will focus on the lip products with a separate entry for the nail lacquers.  The shades I have are Myth, Snob, Girl About Town, and Russian Red.

Myth is a light nude that is very light on my skintone.  It makes me look washed out and so this is my least favorite out of the ones I have.  It features a satin lipstick and a cream (no shimmer) lipglass.  All of the lipglass shades  I have are creams.

Snob is a light neutral pink that is a lot prettier than Myth on me.  The lipstick is also a satin and I like how I can easily lighten or darken the shade just by using a different lip liner or lipglass on top.

Girl About Town is my favorite out of the shades I have.  It is a very pretty bright blue-based fuchsia.  It really brightens my skintone.  The lipstick is an amplified and I love how pigmented this is.  The lipglass is also pretty pigmented and I love to pair these to products for the perfect fuchsia lip.

Russian Red is a neutral red as stated in the press sheet, but the lipstick leans a little blue in my opinion.  The lipstick is a bright matte red and is your quintessential pin-up red lips look.  I can truly understand why this is a cult classic.  I've tried the Russian Red lipglass last year, and I don't know why this hasn't gotten much love as I rarely read or hear about the lipglass version of Russian Red.  It is a pigmented red lipglass that somewhat leans a tad warm to me.  It is gorgeous.

All in all, I think this is a strategic move by MAC to appeal to its fanbase by rolling out different variants of their cult faves.  MAC went back to basics to give their fans what they really want, and they divided the sets into regions because they know that different regions cater to different appeals and favorites.  All I can say is- smart move!

My favorite is Girl About Town, followed by Russian Red and Snob.  Myth is totally wrong for my skintone so I would be skipping this if I were to buy the sets.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.0 out of 5
