I am loving complexion oils especially during the colder months. They revive and nourish my dry, scaly skin, while providing ingredients that soothe and protect the skin. One of the oils that I enjoy using is OleHenriksen's Black Currant Complexion Oil. This is the first product I've tried from this brand and if most products from OleHenriksen are like this one, I will be trying more.
OleHenriksen's website breaks down and explains the benefits of this complexion oil's ingredients:
-Apricot kernal oil Provides skin with comforting essential fatty acids, while protecting capillary walls from cold weather damage
-Blackcurrant oil Contains nature’s highest concentration of gamma linolenic acids, provides skin with environmental protection, helps skin maintain resiliency and soothes
-Cypress Purifying, anti-septic and energizing
-Geranium Calms and renews
-Lemon Tones, uplifts and oxygenates
You are supposed to hold the bottle upside down for 10 seconds to allow the aromatic oil to dispense, then warm in hands and massage into damp skin in long, soothing strokes.
The scent is very aromatic, soothing yet non-cloying. It has a citrusy scent but mixed with something else. The geranium scent calms and relaxes, while the lemony scent uplifts, which is a great aromatherapy combination.
The oil itself is not super greasy, it is on the runny side, but is not water-like. This is great if you want a nourishing complexion oil that will not feel very greasy on the face. This is perfect to mix with water as it is better to apply it over damp skin. I use this after I use my Retin-A every night, and this really does soothe my skin after cleansing and application of Vitamin C serum and retinoids. I really do love the scent, and a drop or two is all you need for the entire face. Add another couple of drops mixed with water for your neck.
All in all, this is a great moisturizing product not only for winter but during summer. I will not hesitate to use this for summer because I like the texture and feel of the product on my face. I like how my skin feels supple and moisturized in the morning. I even use this product on my dry cuticles and it does the trick.
This product retails for $32 for 1 fl. oz/30 ml. and is available at the OleHenriksen website.
