Zoya Nail Polish Fall 2011: Mirrors Collection Swatches and Review

Here are some swatches of the newly-released Zoya Fall 2011 collection called Mirrors. Zoya released twelve new polishes for fall collectively called Smoke & Mirrors. This is the metallic or flecked collection called Mirrors, six new shades with either a metallic or speckled finish. I will be posting the Smoke collection either tonight or tomorrow. Either way, I took photos of the swatches under natural light outdoors - under direct sunlight and under shade - in order to be more accurate with the colors. Swatches are three coats. Let's start with my favorite, Yara:

Yara

Yara

First of all, let me say that I am glad Zoya did away (at least for this Fall collection) with the glass-flecked finishes from past seasons. I liked them, but I was not head over heels in love with them. This time, though, I am loving the speckled finishes of some of the Mirrors polishes. Yara is my favorite. It is a gorgeous smoky olive green with gold speckles. Super love.

Nimue

Nimue

This is a metallic purple with blue and mauve undertones, and a silvery sheen. A nice purple polish with a unique twist because it's metallic with what looks like a see-through curtain of silver over it.

Marina

Marina

One of my top faves along with Yara. Beautiful metallic smokey blue with silver sheen. Zoya's description: "A strongly blue-toned smoky silver-grey with a dusty metallic finish. A blue smoke shade to give a dreamy artistic look to the nails." This is indeed such a dreamy shade. It also has an edgy feel which is so attractive.

Tao

Tao

Tao is a metallic grey hue with silver sheen that is quite pretty, but is not that unique in my stash, as I think I have some polishes which look similar to this. A lovely color though.

Neeka

Neeka

My third favorite. I am a sucker for purples so of course I fell in love with this one. Neeka is a smoky purple with red duochrome shimmer and golden flecks. I am wearing it today with a funky french tip (China Glaze Sci-Fi with Konad french tip image plate), and I am really liking it. The real winners are the golden flecks. Just lovely.

Jem

Zoya describes Jem as a "dark red-toned purple base with metallic dark pink highlights and subtle gold duochrome flecks". This is amazing for fall and winter. Very vampy and dramatic.

I really like the Zoya formula in the Mirrors collection. It was neither too thick nor too runny, and it applied easily on the nailbed. I am liking the flecked polishes more than the straight metallic ones, though. Hopefully, Zoya will churn out all-flecked polishes in one collection. I liked the flecked ones because they look like creams from afar, but when you look closely, the specks of gold really glisten quite nicely. They are not that noticeable indoors, but are wonderful to look at outdoors, especially when sunlight hits them.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.75 out of 5 stars
