Clarisonic Classic Facial Cleansing System Review
Wednesday, December 8, 2010
I finally bit the bullet and bought the Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System a month ago from QVC.com, and I am a complete convert. I have been on the fence for so long now about this product because I thought it was too expensive, and that I could clean my skin better with just a washcloth, soap and toner. However, I read many of the more than a thousand reviews on QVC, and most are very satisfied with this gadget and how it truly revealed better skin. I am so glad I made this decision and purchase. There is a reason why I am over the moon with the results.
Review after the jump
First of all, the product is encased in a square box almost as big as a shoe box. I got the Classic (original size) that includes three 1-oz gentle hydro cleansers, 6-oz Clarisonic gentle hydro cleanser, white sensitive brush head, blue delicate brush head, gray normal brush head, and rechargeable waterproof skin care brush. The head rotates in a gentle massaging manner, and it gently cleanses the skin, loosening dirt, oil, makeup, grime that have accumulated on the skin throughout the day, revealing fresh, clean skin with less noticeable pores and lines. Clarisonic claims that it removes six times more dirt, sebum, and makeup than traditional, superficial cleansing, allowing your serums and moisturizers to absorb better.
I have been using the Clarisonic nightly for a month or so now, and I can definitely say that I have much, much better skin than say three months ago. A few months ago, I had a zit farm on my chin and jawline - I had as much as seven cystic pimples on my chin alone, and several more on the jawline. I knew that my acne was hormonal, so I had to see a dermatologist and my OB-GYN for some medications. However, I was already on meds for a couple of months but I still didn't see the results I wanted. Sure, the worst of the acne has subsided in July or August, but I still had constant zits on my jawline, and they were leaving hyperpigmentation and scars that were embarrassing.
Then I just tried Clarisonic. What a huge difference it made. At first, the bristles hurt my skin, but I just kept going and using it. Eventually, I got used to the light abrasive action, which is actually just a rotating head to massage-cleanse the skin, and at the same time, slough off dead skin cells. It revealed a much more radiant complexion, completely stopped the zits on the jawline and chin (knock on wood!), and when I touch my face, it feels much smoother and softer. Even a close up look on my nose shows smaller-looking pores. What is amazing is that together with some products, the Clarisonic's gentle exfoliating action is lightening my hyperpigmentation and acne scars. The best part is that all my creams, retinoids and emu oil that I apply on my skin work better because there are no trapped dirt, oil and grime that hinder the effectivity of these products. I am in love with the Clarisonic. I actually don't use the cleansers that were sent with this system. I use Philosophy's Purity cleanser, and it works amazing with the Clarisonic.
It is true that only with a bright, clean, clear complexion and beautiful skin can you be truly happy with your makeup. Even though you have a ton of cosmetics but don't take care of your skin, the makeup will be useless because the canvas on which the art is painted (the skin) is screaming for help and healing. I hope the acne nightmare is behind me for good. After some hormone therapy, retinoids, and my Clarisonic, my skin has never looked better.
