I was given the opportunity to try one of the more popular mineral makeup companies on the net today, Purely Cosmetics. This is the first time that I've tried this brand and I can truly say that I was pleasantly surprised. Having tried more than twenty different mineral makeup brands, I have honestly told myself that I've seen it all and that I've already found my holy grail mineral makeup products, and I was done sampling. However, I was particularly curious about Purely Cosmetics' Diamond Perfect Finish powder, and I knew I had to try at least this product from Purely Cosmetics. I've read a lot of raves about the Diamond Perfect Finish that I had to see for myself what all the fuss was about.

I was able to try three different foundation shades and three eyeshadows or "versatile powders" as they are labeled. As for the foundations, I chose Maria and Cornsilk, but Robyn of Purely Cosmetics was kind and wise enough to include Olive Beige in my package because she thought that it would be the perfect shade for me. She was spot-on. I believe it was a good shade for me as it blended very well into my skin.
As for the formula, I can say it is medium to full coverage that is buildable. It has a more "slippery" texture than my other mineral foundations as it really glided on the skin easily. The best part is that Purely Cosmetics foundations are bismuth and talc-free.

I was also given the chance to try their eye shadows called Cappuccino (left) and Champagne (right). These are the perfect everyday lid colors for me and would be great for work. They are shimmery but not sparkly/glittery. They are best used as a wash on the lids that can brighten up the eyes and make them look more awake and refreshed.

Finally, I was able to try the Diamond Perfect Finish Powder and the Silk and Pearl Powder Primer. As I've mentioned, the Diamond Perfect Finishing Powder was the main reason I'd wanted to try out Purely Cosmetics in the first place. The company website claims it is made with real diamonds and a patented diamond complex that creates a flawless finish. The ingredients are:
Ingredients: Benzimidazole diamond amidoethyl urea carbamoyl propyl polymethylsilsesquioxane, diamond powder.
I made a boo-boo when I applied these products. Since they looked alike in the jars, I had mistaken the Silk/Pearl primer powder for the Diamond powder and I used the former as my finishing powder. I had to apply the Diamond powder over the primer to correct it. LOL! I was not disappointed. The Diamond Perfect finishing powder has the texture of confectioner's sugar. It is very finely-milled, and has some sort of light-bending particles that diffuse light, blur imperfections and create a seemingly flawless complexion. I agree with Purely Cosmetics' website that this does not give a shimmery finish, but it does give sort of an "aura", or shall I say an ethereal look.
I apply this using a fluffy powder brush and lightly brush the powder all over the face. A little goes a long way. It may look a little light at first if you have medium to dark skin, but I wait a minute or two for the product to be absorbed by the skin. It is an excellent finishing powder especially for those with blemishes or fine lines.

Finally, I use the Silk & Pearl primer powder over my moisturizer and under the foundation to help keep oilies at bay and to create a smooth and even base for my foundation. I use a fluffy brush on the entire face, but I use a concealer brush to concentrate on my T-zone to minimize the appearance of pores and the oiliness on my nose.

Recommendations: All in all, I was pretty impressed with Purely Cosmetics, especially the face products. If I were to recommend products I've tried, I would especially recommend the Diamond Perfect Finish powder, followed by the Silk & Pearl primer and the foundation.
Note: Media samples were provided by a representative of the company for consideration and evaluation. All opinions are 100% mine.

I've been dying to try the Diamond Perfect finishing powder! The only thing is that they don't offer samples of it, do they? I remember it being kinda pricey and I've become hooked on getting samples of makeup before buying, esp. from indie mineral companies but I often ask for samples at Sephora too if something is expensive.
Hi Beautyfromanotherplanet -
Yes, we offer the Diamond Perfect Finish in sample sizes. We offer everything but eye shadows and blushes in sample sizes (you use so little of those, a sample would take too long to use up). If you go to our samples page, you'll see the Diamond Perfect Finish listed in the dropdowns for either the individual samples, or in the 3 pack jars.
