MAC Nail Trend F/W '10 Initial Swatches and Review
Tuesday, August 24, 2010
Here is a peek at some of the nail polishes from the MAC Nail Trend F/W '10 Jin Soon collection. I am glad that MAC has improved the formula of their nail polishes, as the past few releases had good staying power and the consistency is just right - neither too goopy nor runny. The newer releases, especially my favorite - Blue India - were a dream to apply and lasted chip-free on my nails for days. This new Nail Trend for F/W 2010 is again from the creativity of Jin Soon, who was inspired by the colors of the Orient. The colors truly reminded me of Chinese silk fabric, the different rich and deep colors of precious stones from Asia, and bold colors that remained faithful to the asian theme. I really like the color crafts from this collection. The shimmer in each nail lacquer truly reflects the asian theme because the shades look like shiny Chinese silk fabric colors to my eyes.
Swatches and review after the jump
Ming Blue
Ming Blue
Ming Blue is a majestic color: it is described as a cobalt blue with sophisticated teal and red shimmer. The flash washed out a bit of the rich blue color, so it looks lighter in the pictures compared to how it really is in real life. Shimmer is beautiful and the color is perfect for fall.
Rain of Flowers
Rain of Flowers
Rain of Flowers is a blackened violet with purple micro-shimmer pearls. A vampy color that is perfect for fall. For the first time in a long while, I am drawn to frosts, and MAC's frosts of all things. The reason is that these frosts are shimmery without being over-the-top like dated '80s-style frosted nails. These are shimmery in a subdued kind of way, which I think is the reason why these are quite attractive to me. These are basically cream polishes infused with tiny shimmer pearls, so they are not all-out frosts. This color is lovely if you like darkened eggplant polishes with a kick of shimmer.
I will be updating the blog with more reviews and swatches of Nail Trend F/W '10 when I see the rest of the collection in stores.
