Urban Decay Naked Eye Shadow Palette Review and Swatches

I finally got my Naked palette from Urban Decay website last Friday. This palette is a highly-coveted one as it is a very wearable palette, of course because the colors are neutral and can be used in a wide variety of looks - from soft, everyday shades to smokey or vamped-up eyes for special events or nights out.

See the rest of the review and swatches after the jump!

I bought it on the same day that it got sold out on the Urban Decay site. I know that it is permanent palette so this will be restocked soon. I am just glad that they made this, as I know most people prefer to use neutrals or smokified eyes over bright eyeshadows.

The packaging is simple but beautiful. It comes with a mini primer potion and a double-ended 24/7 glide-on pencil in Zero and Whiskey. I can never have enough of Zero as it is a staple for me to tightline and sometimes to use on the waterline. I do have a couple of the shadows in Naked that are also in my Ammo Shadow Box palette, namely Smog and Sin, but the rest of the colors are unique and pretty so to get the Naked palette is worth it in the long run.

Here are some of the swatches. They were taken with no primer underneath so you can see how pigmented they are even without one. Also, these were taken on a cloudy day, but the pigmentation and quality of the shadows still shone through.

I love how the shadows are really creamy, pigmented and easy to apply. With a good base, the shadows really adhere very well to the lid, regardless if your lids are oily or not. I do have other Urban Decay shadows and sometimes you have to deal with fall-out. Same with the Naked palette, but this is a small price to pay for the very good quality of the shadows and the nifty and convenient packaging.

Virgin and Sin would make great highlighter or even lid colors.  They apply smoothly and not chalky. Sin has more shimmer while Virgin is on the satin side.

Naked really suits its name as it practically disappeared on my skin.  I think this would be a great blender color to blend gradient colors together or to smooth the transition from one lighter to a darker color.  This would really be great to blend harsh edges.

Sidecar is a very pretty color.  It reminds me of a foiled MAC Coco pigment, without the inconvenience of pigment in loose form.  I just don't like the micro-glitter in it, but it's tolerable because the glitter is not as chunky as the ones in earlier palettes.

Buck is a nice flat milk chocolate color.  Would love to use this as an outer lid color.

Half Baked is a favorite because this is a beautiful shimmery copper shade similar to some of my metallic Aromaleigh pigments.  This would work well if you want to give more oomph to your neutral or smokey eye look.  I used this in an eye look so watch out for it.

Smog is the quintessential crease color.  I love the shimmery bronze.

Darkhorse is a beauty; a dark cool brown with micro glitter particles.  The glitters are subtle though and this would make for a great brown smokey eye look.

Toasted is a taupish-mauve color.  Another unique one that is very, very pretty.  Applies well and the shimmer is amazing.

Hustle is a dark chocolate color.  Very simple but would serve a wide variety of looks.

Creep is your staple black with micro-glitter; great for smokey-eyed clubbing!

Gunmetal is great to pair with Creep for smokey eyes.  This will work to blend with Creep to tone down the black and lend grey tones to the look.

This is the Naked palette.  I honestly don't have anything bad to say about the choice of colors, packaging, quality of the shadows and overall performance.  This is a very worthwhile palette to have, whether you are new to eyeshadows or an eyeshadow "ho" like me lol.   I have the Alice in Wonderland palette, Book of Shadows Vol II and the Ammo box of shadows, and I can safely say that Naked is hands-down my best Urban Decay palette.

The Shades Of U Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars

Watch out for my Naked eye look and tutorial real soon!

Kristie- If you have a lot of neutrals then this probably is not a must-have. I just like the convenient palette that I can bring with me for vacations and travel.

etoileblog- I have not idea, but maybe if you have Sephora in Europe they can ship it to you? Sorry I am no help!

Chibu - I agree!

Vampiressdoll- yeah, they should have made all exclusive shadows for something as grand as this palette.

April- sorry girl, I have no idea =(

PeachyPink Sisters and Tiffany- my pleasure =)
