OPI Shrek Collection Nail Swatches and Review

I was elated when I saw the OPI Shrek collection at my local nail polish supply store. I used to sulk because they were always late in getting new collections, but this time I think they got it earlier than ULTA and other nail supply stores. Anyways, I got the whole collection and although I was glad to score these, they were not very unique colors, as you can see below. The formula was quite streaky and thick as well, especially the lighter colors. The saving grace of this collection however is the amazing staying power. I usually change my polish every couple of days. However, I am still wearing Funkey Donkey for three days straight and there is no hint of chipping or peeling, and there is very minimal tip wear, something that doesn't happen that often to me. Okay, on with the swatches!

Fiercely Fiona was a disappointment. It is supposed to be your quintessential Shrek yellow-green but it failed miserably on my skintone. It is a lot yellow without much hint of green on my tips. Very streaky and the change in formula is horrible as this is very thick. I will most definitely have to thin this with nail polish thinner to make the application a bit easier.

What's With The Cat-titude is a tad easier to work with than Fiercely Fiona. It still streaked a bit but not as much as FF. It is a light sky blue cream that looks great for spring and summer. Like Fiercely Fiona, the formula is thicker than how I'd like my polish to be, so this bottle will also drink some thinner tonight.

Ogre-the-Top Blue is beautiful. It is a nice cream medium-dark navy blue, I guess? This picture was taken when the sun temporarily hid (cloudy), but the brightness of the blue still shone through. I can't wait to Konadify this. Here's how it looks like with flash:

Rumple's Wiggin' is a nice cream lilac, and since I am a sucker for anything purple-tinged, this is right up my alley. It is not a very unique color, though and totally dupe-able. However, I still love it to bits.

Funky Donkey is OPI's answer to China Glaze's Grape Pop. They are practically dupes of each other. Here's how they look like side-by-side:

I prefer the formula of China Glaze Grape Pop, though, because it was such a dream to apply that polish while Funky Donkey is a tad thick. However, like what I said, I am very much enjoying the staying power of OPI despite frequent hand and dish washings. That said, I am now debating whether I should add thinner to my OPI polishes as it might mess up with the staying power. What do you think?

Anyways, OPI Shrek collection offers nothing new if you already have some of the spring collections from other major nail polish companies. The Shrek name however adds to the appeal of this collection. The lighter ones are streaky in my experience, and the formula can be improved as it is quite thick.

The purples look gorgeous, but I think I'll look for similar colours in China Glaze and other brands :) especially since OPI will soon become hard for me to get!
