My NARS Blush Collection, Review and Swatches

I had browsed my blog and I just realized, horror of horrors, that I haven't even posted one single entry on my NARS blushes! That is simply unacceptable, and I am sorry. I've had these blushes since forever, and I love using them, but for the life of me, I don't know why I always forget to feature them. I've also had several other NARS blushes that I'd simply let go of because they didn't work for me. I am now down to nine blushes (from 14 or so last year), but I love every one of these babies and I use them regularly. As most of you probably know by now, NARS blushes are simply phenomenal in terms of staying power, and have the most gorgeous blush texture ever. The products are finely-milled, never splotchy or downright coarse. Here are my NARS blushes, swatches of NARS products I swatched at Sephora, and my thoughts on these.

Super Orgasm is my favorite coral-peachy pink shade from NARS. If you notice, I don't have Orgasm in my stash. I'd bought it twice, only to let go of it twice because it simply looked boring on my skin. Super Orgasm is Orgasm on steroids. It has better pigmentation than Orgasm, but it also has glitters that some people loathe. Personally, though, I am not bothered by them because some of the glitters simply fall off the skin, giving the cheeks just adequate sheen from the gold flecks. The color is gorgeous and I like this ten times better than Orgasm.

Oasis is described by NARS as a sparkling pink champagne, but I really don't see it as that. It is in the same color family as Sin, albeit this has more gold sparkles and a little more subdued in color than Sin. Nonetheless, this looks absolutely gorgeous on my skintone, and really gives a lit-from-within effect if applied sparingly. I use this with my MAC 136 brush, and the amazing paddle-shaped brush just gives the perfect amount of product without going overboard, and also providing a light sheen on the skin.

Madly is described as sea-shell pink, which kinda explains why it has some beige-y undertones. This looks amazing when I apply this with my Japonesque squirrel hair blush brush. It is also paddle-shaped like the MAC 136, so it deposits the pigment in a nicely angled way, and the texture is amazingly fine. I like this when I wear bronzes and peaches because it complements these colors beautifully.

Angelika is the perfect shimmery cotton-candy pink blush for me. The texture is amazing as with all NARS blushes, and it gives a pretty sheen. I like this better than Desire, also a bubblegum pink, but if you look at the swatches I posted above, Angelika is slightly warmer in color which would suit my warm skintone.

If I am not in the mood for shimmer but still like to wear pink blush with the wonderful NARS finish, I reach for Mata Hari. It is a deeper rose pink with lots of blue undertone. This looks good on my skintone, and the color pay-off is amazing.

Outlaw is my newest NARS blush. It is a shimmery rose blush that looks universal; I believe this would look great on any skintone. I've always wanted to get Outlaw and I can't wait to use this.

Sin is probably my most favorite of the bunch. This never fails to look good on me no matter how crappy I look. This is the most fool-proof berry blush I own. It glides like a dream on the skin, gives the most beautiful finish ever, and the light shimmer is icing on the cake. The color also seems to be pretty universal. If you like berry blushes, go snag this one, you won't be disappointed.

Sorry for the pretty banged-up appearance of my Cactus Flower, but there's a good reason for it: This has been a long-time resident in my makeup kit. I tote it around ALL the time, for work, nights out, movies, to the mall, to out-of-town trips, you name it. The convenient mirror is a major plus, and this is my go-to touch-up blush when I travel because I don't need a separate blush brush for it. I just use a clean finger or two to apply this to my cheeks, and voila! Lightly flushed, just-got-back-from-the-cold cheeks. The color may look scary but when applied, it gives a very subdued but noticeable, lit-from-within flush. I swear, it really looks lit from within because the cream pigment doesn't just sit on top of the skin; it kinda seeps into your skin ang gives a beautiful blush with subtle shimmer.

Last but not the least, Gilda is a matte coral that looks great on my skintone. I reach out for this if I want a matte blush, or if I want to top off my blush with MAC's mineralize skinfinishes (because using the MSFs with the NARS shimmer blushes will result to disco shimmer overload). It is one of the more underrated NARS blushes but this would be a good choice if you love corals.

There you have it, my NARS blush collection and review.

Wow, Matahari is so gorgeous. In my country, Matahari mean the sun. But this one doesn't look like a sun at all! I only have Nars Deep Throat. Too bad, my country doesn't have Nars so i have to asked my friend to bought it from Bangkok.

I'm on the hunt to finding the right blush for my skin tone. I am a Nc45user who wants to start wearing NARS blushes. Can you recommend two blushes one for everyday and something that will give me a pop of color

A- The berry ones like Sin and Oasis might look good on you, as well as that amazing cream blush in Cactus Flower. If you want peaches, try Torrid. HTH!
